Emergency Drive to Save the Tax Cuts
The extension of the 2017 Trump Tax cuts is in jeopardy.
Special interests are beginning to pick apart the process, factions want their pet provisions, and razor-thin majorities in both the U.S. Senate and House mean just a few holdouts can derail the entire tax cut extension.
If Congress fails to act, the consequences would be devastating:
• Families will have to pay an average of $1,500 or the equivalent of 8 weeks of groceries – some substantially more,
• Many small businesses will see their narrow profit margins wiped out, leading to substantial job losses,
• We will face wide-ranging economic damage from the largest tax increase in U.S. history, giving progressives the perfect narrative to flip the House and Senate in 2026.
And that’s without the potential tax increases that the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says are “now on the table.”
This is why Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is mobilizing their unmatched grassroots army to make sure every American knows about the imminent threat – and how they can hold lawmakers accountable.
It’s the same approach AFP used to get the 2017 Tax Cuts across the finish line: speak one-on-one with the constituents of lawmakers whose votes will decide the bill’s fate and reinforce those conversations with highly targeted media blitz created to build on the pressure growing back home.
It can work again but time is short. And this time, we must intensify our efforts.
The current reconciliation bill is the best and maybe only shot at extending the 2017 tax cuts that spurred enormous economic growth and prosperity. And with each day that passes the tax cut extension becomes less likely.
Because so much is at stake and because any delays make it harder to push the special interests out of the equation and get Congress 100% focused on quickly passing a strong tax cut bill, I am supporting AFP’s emergency efforts to save the tax cuts with an urgent contribution in the amount indicated below:
